A huge wildfire raged through the island of Evia overnight, with 34 firefighters and 17 vehicles attempting to control the blaze that broke out.
The fire, which burned through fields of vegetation and dried grass, broke out on the south side of Evia, in the area of Karystos and strong winds did not help emergency crews who tried desperately to put out the flames.
There are many holiday homes in the area and the local Mayor ordered an evacuation.
According to reports, about 10 houses were evacuated, with a total of 15 people leaving their homes.
According to the press briefing from the local Fire Brigade, winds just before midnight hit 6 Beaufort and shortly after midnight, the intensity of the winds had dropped, allowing firefighters to finally control the blaze.
Police authorities claim they are not yet sure what started the fire.
