Huge fire breaks out in Mandra

A forest fire has broken out near the Monastery of Gorgoepikoou in Mandra, Attica.

Six fire brigades with six vehicles, two teams with 18 firefighters and nine vehicles, as well as two teams of SOS rescuers and a helicopter immediately arrived at the scene to try to extinguish the fire.  The fire which broke out at around 5 pm in the afternoon is in forest area and does not currently threaten any residential property.

The town of Mandra was hit with grief in November 2017, after 24 people lost their lives during torrential rains and extreme flash flooding.
