Newly appointed Health Minister, Vassilis Kikilias made a surprise visit on Sunday at the Halkida General Hospital while it was on Accident and Emergency duty.
The minister’s unannounced visit took place early in the morning, with the Minister meeting all hospital departments, speaking with nursing and medical staff, as well as patients, to find out about the problems and shortages faced by the hospital and staff at first hand.
Kikilias was also briefed about the total burden placed on Evia's health system during the tourist season.
This is Kikilias' third visit to a hospital since taking over the health ministry, following surprise visits to the Evangelismos and Laiko hospitals in Athens.
