Cyprus ambassador congratulates His Eminence Archbishop Makarios on behalf of the President of Cyprus

Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Overseas Cypriots, Fotis Fotiou met with His Eminence Archbishop Makarios on behalf of the President of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades to congratulate him on his enthronement to the important position in the Archdiocese of Australia.

The diplomat presented His Eminence with a congratulatory letter from Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and noted that the President wanted his congratulations to be presented in the most official manner and not by post.

During the meeting, the future course of the Cyprus issue was discussed and a silver model of the ship of Kyrenia was given to the new Archbishop of Australia Makarios, symbolising the opening and the openness of the Cypriot people to all.

In his letter, the President of Cyprus stated:

“On behalf of the government and the people of the Republic of Cyprus, on the occasion of your election and enthronement, I would like to congratulate you warmly and to wish every success in your spiritual and national work, as well as in the sacred mission to serve the people from this leading position, that of the Archbishop of Australia.”
