Greece has called on Iran to release the crew and the British oil tanker that it seized recently in the Strait of Hormuz.

The call was made through a statement issued on Tuesday 23rd July by the Foreign Ministry which said that Greece “as a seafaring country, attaches great importance to ensuring freedom of navigation everywhere in the world. Actions against the freedom of navigation, as enshrined in international law, cannot but be condemned.”

“The immediate release of the crew and the unimpeded continuation of “STENA IMPERO’s” journey is expected, as a demonstration of respect for the provisions of international law,” the statement concluded.
