For many years Mykonos has been the hot spot to visit during the summer season. This year the Ice Bar Mykonos has dropped the temperature in the heart of Mykonos creating the coolest spot on the island…literally!
The temperature of the bar without people inside is -10 degrees Celsius and drops to a chilling -5 degrees Celsius when it is filled. The bar is ice from top to bottom including the walls, the glasses, the statues and the chairs. Upon entering the bar, customers are provided with colourful furs, gloves, and super cool ear muffs. With the mix of international and Greek music, alcohol and the crazy Greek vibe, you will be warmed up in no time.
The Ice Bar Mykonos opened in June this year in Meletopoulou Square in the centre of Mykonos Town (opposite the cinema). The bar serves all of your favourite drinks and a variety of frozen cocktails. The craziest choice on the menu is the ability to destroy the whole Ice Bar with hammers. The menu option also includes a champagne shower for a group of friends to enjoy at the price of 150,000 euro. Now that’s insane!
We had a chat with Stelios Kolaxidis, co-owner of the Ice Bar Mykonos, about how they came up with the idea.
“The idea began from Ilias, my brother’s friend, who is together with us this year at the Ice Bar. At the beginning I wasn’t too sure but it soon grew on me.
“Ilias and my brother Mimi, also co-owners of the Ice Bar Mykonos, have been to various Ice Bars around the world and after researching we found that there is nothing quite like it in Greece.
"We decided that the best location for an Ice Bar in Greece could not be anywhere else but Mykonos.
"We were sure that the people would definitely love it!”
The Ice Bar is open every day from 9:00 PM til 5:00 AM. It is definitely a stand out location for private parties, birthday parties, wedding parties or anything else you can imagine.
