A British travel blogger claims she was arrested for "breaching sexual decency" while visiting the Acropolis and said the "false accusation" was because of her race.

Adebola Sowemimo visited the ancient Greek tourist site in Athens on Thursday, when she was arrested for “sexual indecency” after a guard said she was flashing other tourists.

The British blogger has taken to her social media pages saying it was "racist" and added that the accusations are completely false.

"I've just been arrested by Greek Police based on a false accusation," Adebola wrote on Twitter, adding that Greek police were keeping her in custody.

"I went to the Acropolis in Athens today and I was pushed out of the museum because I was apparently wearing inappropriate clothing."

According to Adebola, a guard approached her and began "screaming" at her in Greek.

"Police were called and a false testament was made against me that I was lifting my skirt and flashing my body to the public. This is a LIE," she tweeted.

"The guard lied and said they had video evidence that I was showing my genitals. This is a lie. I would never do such a thing.

She added, "I am supposed to be transported to court tomorrow for my hearing for absolutely nothing."

"I have no idea why I have been falsely accused of something I haven't done.

"I have been ridiculed by the police. Provoked by the Greek police and absolutely traumatised by the situation."

On her Instagram page, Adebola went on to say, "Please understand that this had nothing to do with what I was wearing, I don't think it is a crime not to wear a bra. I was arrested because I was falsely accused of something I didn't do."
