Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced he will be making his way to Crete with his family over the weekend for a short holiday, before heading over to the Holy Island of Tinos on August 15 for Dekapendavgousto, where he will celebrate one of the country’s holiest days amongst other worshippers at ‘Our Lady of Tinos’ church.
Chania is the Prime Minister’s hometown, where his father and ancestors were born.

The PM, his wife Mareva and their three children Sophia, Constantine and Daphne have spent many summer holidays in Chania and particularly like the area of Marathi, which is a seaside town that offers plenty of good beaches, taverns and fun family activities.
The island of Tinos is another one of the PM's favourite islands, which he visited many times with his parents during his childhood and the icon of Agios Constantinos and Agia Eleni was donated to 'Our Lady of Tinos' church by Mitsotakis’ parents.
