Thessaloniki airport, ‘Macedonia’, was nominated and voted by leading airlines for the "World Routes Airport Marketing Awards" award at the Routes World 2019 International Air Transport Conference.

With this vote of confidence, "Macedonia" becomes the first of Greece's regional airports to reach the top five in the airport category of four to 20 million passengers.

Judging criteria taken into account include efficiency in managing and supporting airlines, route development strategy, and overall partnership with airlines in all areas, and innovation in Airport Marketing.

The final result will be announced following the evaluation of an independent panel of top executives worldwide and announced at the Routes World 2019 World Conference in Adelaide, Australia in September.

It is noted that other airports that are finalists in the same category include Budapest, Malta, Auckland, US and Stuttgart.

"Our participation in the final phase of the awards is a great honor for Thessaloniki Airport ‘Macedonia’ but also for Fraport Greece. Firstly because it is the first time that a regional airport in Greece is in this leading position among other top class airports in the world at such a prestigious event, but also because the votes come from the airlines themselves, which proves that they recognize the work being done at all levels by our company,” said Fraport Greece General Manager of Development, George Vilos in an announcement.
