More than 35 million passengers move through Greek airports

According to the Civil Aviation authority, Greek airports saw a 4.7% increase in passenger traffic reaching over 35 million passengers.

Passenger traffic at airports increased by 4.7% in the first seven months of 2019 compared to the same period in 2018.

In the first seven months of 2019, passenger traffic reached 35,525,166, up 4.7% year-on-year, with 33,923,504 passengers. Specifically, traveling passengers were up by 1,601,662 over the same period last year.

The total number of flights to Greek airports was 298,910 (121,948 domestic and 176,962 foreign), up 4.7% from 285,532 flights in 2018.

Also, according to the statistics for the first seven months (January-July '19), Ioannina, Limnos and Nea Anchialos airports recorded the highest percentage increase of passengers. Ioannina Airport increased 29.9% (handled 76,959 passengers compared to 59,241 in 18th), Lemnos Airport recorded 17.9% (handled 54,516 passengers against 46,244 last year) and Nea Airport Anchialou increased 15.5% as it carried 26,208 passengers, compared to 22,698 in 2018.
