Popular Mykonos bar suspended for four days due to tax evasion

Officers of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (IAPR) have suspended operations at a popular bar in Mykonos for four days from Monday, due to tax evasion.

According to sources, the bar’s name has been revealed- Bonbonniere, located in Mykonos town.

The bar was also closed last month for two days for tax evasion offences, however this time the penalty was doubled.

When IAPR officers visited the premises on Friday morning, sources state that they were surrounded by the bar’s security staff, who prevented them from posting the notice of closure.

The notice was later placed after Citizens’ Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis dispatched police to the scene.

This Mykonos bar is the latest business to be investigated after inspectors launched a tax-evasion crackdown on the upscale tourism island a few months ago.
