Greece’s Apostolos Papastamos smashed the World Junior Record and Championships Record in the final of the men’s 400 IM (individual medley) at the 2019 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships, held in Budapest, Hungary.
The 18-year-old not only lowered the world junior record to 4:11.93, but also lowered the Greek national record of 4:14.41 which was set by Ioannis Drymonakos at the 2012 European Championships.
Before today, the young Greek swimmers' best time was 4:15.18 from this year’s European Juniors.
