Yiayia Emilia, aged 92, is an inspiration worldwide, proving that age really is just a number. The mentally and physically strong Kyria Emilia, who lives in the village of Nea Figalia in the Peloponnese, still collects her own olives, which are used to make olive oil and cuts and collects branches for her Tzaki (fireplace) during winter.

In fact, she does physical work that other people half her age would never attempt.

The 92-year-old was born in the village of Nea Figalia of Olympia in 1927. Also known as Zourtsa, this is the same place where famous Greek general Theodoros Kolokotronis was also born.

From a very young age, Kyria Emilia was a determined woman who wanted to become a farmer and was involved in agricultural production.

However, like many people of her generation, the strong-willed 92-year-old suffered through war, dictatorship, hardships, and hunger.

Yet, to this day, she stands on her own two feet and Kyria Emilia has not let any of the set-backs in life bring her down.

In fact, the brave Yiayia hopes her strength will inspire younger generations throughout Greece to work hard and to never give up.
