Ankara provokes again, claiming Mykonos, Paros and Naxos belong to Turkey

Dramatic developments continue between Greece and Turkey, with Ankara now claiming Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, Amorgos, and many more Cycladic islands belong to them.

Umit Yalim, President Erdogan’s former Secretary of the Turkish Defense Ministry and secret adviser described the “Blue Homeland” map, which Erdogan was photographed standing in front of a few weeks back, as "very modest" and "incorrect."

The "Blue Homeland" map depicts nearly half of the Aegean Sea and an area up to the eastern coast of Crete as belonging to Turkey.

Speaking to Turkish media, Yalim claims the Turkish border is 85 kilometers west, at the 24th meridian and not the 25th as shown in the "Blue Homeland" map.

The map (pictured below), which Yalim says is "correct," was published by the Turkish General Staff in the 1970s and contains a series of Greece's Cycladic islands including Mykonos, Amorgos, Naxos, Paros, Koufonissia and many more.

Yalim told Turkish reporters, "If the 'Blue Homeland' is implemented, Turkey will lose significant 'rights' to the Aegean."

He also added that according to International Law, Turkey's maritime jurisdictions are approximately 550,000 square kilometers at sea and their airspace is 1.3 million square miles, while "Blue Homeland" shows 462 thousand square miles.

According to reports, Turkey’s provocations are being taken seriously by Athens, with the Hellenic Armed Forces now on high alert.
