Greece’s President Prokopios Pavlopoulos honoured the memory of fallen Greek soldiers in the Battle of Rimini in Italy on Sunday.

The President travelled to Italy and lay a wreath in the memorial service in honour of the memory of the Greek soldiers who died there during World War II.

“Greece is taking for granted the support of its partners in the European Union and its allies in NATO in the fight for the defence of its territory and its borders, of EU territory and of European and international legitimacy,” Pavlopoulos underlined.

“This is because everyone knows that when we are defending the territory and the borders of Greece, we are defending the territory and the borders of the European Union, and therefore European and International Law. That is why in this fair fight against anyone who may doubt the European and International Legislation, we are taking for granted the support of our partners in the European Union and of our allies in NATO,” the President said.

The President went on to say that the “we Greeks may have differences, but this is the meaning of democracy. But as far as the big issues and especially the national issues are concerned, all Greek Democrats are united, and we will defend our country as well as international and European legitimacy under conditions of unity.”
