His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros, along with the Consulate General of Greece in New York, and hundreds of Greek Americans welcomed Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Astoria, the heart of the Greek community in New York City.

The event, which was open to the public, took place on Wednesday, September 25, at 7 pm at the auditorium of St. Demetrios School, where the Prime Minister spoke to hundreds of people in the audience.

"I feel as though I am one of you and I want you to feel as though I am one of you too," said PM Mitsotakis, as he began his speech.

"I want to thank you for being there for Greece in the past, as you will be in the present, and in the future. I want to thank you as you always put Greece before you do political parties,” the PM stressed, as the crowd applauded Greece’s new Prime Minister.

"Your vote will also be counted properly as of 2023 when the next national elections are held, you will finally be able to vote from your permanent place of residence," added the PM.
