A 47-year-old paedophile from Rhodes island was caught trying to lure a 13-year-old boy via private messages on his Instagram account.
The boy, however, felt something wasn’t right with the suggestive comments made by the 47-year-old man and told his parents who viewed the conversation and quickly alerted police.
The father of the boy then took over his son’s phone and responded to the man, who thought he was still chatting with the minor and organised a meeting at a busy café in the centre of Rhodes town.
When the man turned up and found the father instead of the child, he ran off but was later arrested by police who found further evidence on the man’s mobile.
The Criminal Court of Rhodes imposed a 4-year jail sentence and a fine of 1,500 euros on the 47-year-old local resident, who had previous paedophile offenses.
