Greece’s General Secretariat for Civil Protection, announced that the Greek Air Force on Sunday helped with the transfer of some 9 tonnes of humanitarian aid to neighbouring Albania, which was recently struck by earthquakes and floods.
The humanitarian aid was delivered with the escort of the Secretary General of Civil Protection Nikos Chardalias, who emphasised how the Greek people "rushed to stand by their friend and neighbour at a difficult time, tested by recent earthquakes and floods."
Albania’s Interior Ministry received the aid which included food, medicines, electricity generators, rollaway beds, blankets and other essentials.
Greek humanitarian aid is part of the European Civil Protection Mechanism which coordinates the collective European response to natural disasters.
