USA and Greece talk culture, including stolen art

Greece’s Culture Minister Lina Mendoni, US Department of State Assistant Secretary of European and Eurasian Affairs Philip T. Reeker and US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt, met and discussed possible cultural collaborations between Greece and the US.

According to a press statement from the Cultural Ministry, other issues discussed included the issue of “repatriating illegally exported antiquities and cultural goods from Greece," and noted that the Greece-US memorandum of cooperation on cultural collaboration has been tabled in parliament and will be passed in October.

Another issue discussed was synergies between Greek and American museums, book and publishing companies - in light of the US having being the honoured country at the 2018 Thessaloniki International Fair - while the filming of cinema and TV production projects in Greece was also considered.
