Bayern Munich fans attacked in Athens by Olympiakos supporters (VIDEO)

Greek police say four visiting Bayern Munich fans have been injured during a violent attack by suspected Olympiakos supporters ahead of the two clubs’ Champions League match.

Police said about 80 men, many in motorcycle helmets or armed with clubs, invaded a training ground in Athens where the Olympiakos and Bayern Under-19 sides were playing and started bashing Germans in the stands.

No arrests were reported, and the extent of the four Bayern fans’ injuries was not immediately known.

Police said about 1,600 German fans travelled to Greece for the Group B match.

Reports claim the attack happened in the 84th minute of the match when Bayern’s youth were leading 4-0, The game was abandoned as soon as the attacks began.

Pictures on social media showed the German supporters soaked in blood, ahead of the clubs’ first teams facing each other in the Champions League.

According to reports Olympiacos coach Dimitris Mavrogenidis, 42, was left angered by the clashes, with the former Greece international right-back saying, “I’m sorry. This is not my Olympiakos.”

The Champions League game between the two teams went ahead with Olympiacos going down to a 3-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in their Group B encounter at the Georgios Karaiskakis stadium in Piraeus.
