Athens to open its first-ever Food Hall

The Greek capital is set to open its first-ever Food Hall, a 12 million euro project that will feature a shopping centre filled with artisanal, gourmet and organic products from all over the country, plus food and wine workshops, cooking classes, restaurants and shops, which are all aimed at promoting authentic Greek gastronomy under the one roof!

According to reports, the new project will offer locals and international visitors a taste of Greece’s finest foods and flavors as they are taken on a gastronomical tour of the entire country right in the heart of Athens.

Legendary Food - a company set up by four Greek businessmen; bankers Vaggelis Kotzias and Panagiotis Triantafyllopoulos; brand strategist Peter Economides; and businessman Aris Kefalogiannis will initially invest 12 million euros into the project.

According to many sources, Greek shipping merchants are also behind the new business venture but no names have not been made public yet.

The name of the food hall will be revealed within the next month with the final development plans expected to be ready in six months.

Legendary Food also said that the project is forecast to attract 10,000 to 12,000 visitors per day, which is around 3 million people per year and they are anticipating each visitor will spend around 14 euros on average.

The arcade will be housed in the landmark Arsakeion building complex, which will be renovated by the end of 2021 and it’s expected to showcase Greek products, as well as host seminars and workshops based on Greek produce, recipes, and the famous Mediterranean diet.

The company also plans to expand its concept to other cities across the globe, including New York, London, Melbourne, Berlin, and Dubai.
