Corfu port authorities arrested three Turkish nationals with the charge of human trafficking, following a search on the US-flagged yacht "ANGELO BIAN" while sailing in the sea region of Othoni.
The Turkish nationals aged aged 69, 42 and 37 are accused of illegally transferring migrants and refugees from Turkey to Italy.
During their inspection, Greek coast guard officials discovered the vessel was involved in the illegal transport of 43 third-country nationals to Lecce, Italy, while a European arrest warrant was pending against the Turks.
The boat was confiscated and Corfu port authorities have launched an investigation.
