Turkey to miss out on Trump-Mitsotakis NATO lunch

Greece's Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis is scheduled to attend a working lunch on the sidelines of the NATO summit in London this week.

According to government sources, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is unlikely to be present at the luncheon. Notably, Turkey's ambassador in Paris was summoned by the French President after Erdogan insulted him by saying he was suffering from "brain death".

Attending the luncheon are European leaders who spend significant funds on arms procurement. Invited to attend also, according to sources, are the Bulgarian, Romanian and Latvian leaders amongst others.

On Friday, the Greek PM called his French counterpart for support ahead of the NATO Summit, in relation to Turkey's continuous provocations in the region.

Meanwhile, government officials did not confirm that the meeting between Mitsotakis and Trump in the White House will be held on January 7, but they said that this is one of the dates proposed.

The NATO Summit will take place in London 3-4 December 2019.
