George ‘Ferocious’ Kambosos Jr is preparing for the biggest fight of his career against former world champion, Mickey Bey at Madison Square Garden this weekend.

Mr. 'Ferocious', No.3-ranked lightweight contender with the International Boxing Federation (IBF), states that a win over Mickey Bey should see him in line for a world title fight in the future. And he isn't taking the challenge lightly, spending over a month in training camp in Florida and also training at the famous 5th Street Gym, where Muhammad Ali trained in the 1960s.

His competitor, Mickey Bey once held the IBF world title, winning it via split decision against Miguel Vazquez in 2014, before losing it after having hand surgery.

The 26-year-old Greek Australian professional boxer will fight on the undercard of welterweight superstar Terence Crawford. On the same card is Richard Commey vs Teofimo Lopez for the IBF lightweight world title.

After George's last fight against Venezuelan Richard Pena which was held in Athens earlier this year, he told GCT that "fighting in Athens, Greece was amazing and with how the fans reacted with so much excitement and honour that a fellow Greeks was representing them all gives me motivation to win the world title in the US and bring back some mega stadium fights here in Greece which could pack out over 100,000 people." This upcoming fight for him against Bey is his chance to claim the world title in the future.

GCT followers globally can catch all the action live on Saturday 14th December 2019 from 5.30pm EST Time On ESPN+ or if you reside in Australia- FITE on Sunday 15th December 2019 from 9.30am AEDT.
