Athens Eleftherios Venizelos Airport was blessed with the unexpected birth of a baby girl on Friday, as a woman went into labour shortly after disembarking from her overseas flight.
The airport’s EKAV medical team, comprised of Dr Bill Kekeris, Dr Evangela Preka, nurse Athanasios Hatzis and paramedics Sotirios Bahas and Manolis Linardos, rushed to the woman’s aid as she lay on the floor in the arrivals lounge.
Fortunately, there were no complications during the birth, and mother and baby were transported to Alexandros Hospital.
The EKAV team uploaded a photo showing them proudly holding the baby in their arms with the caption: "The arrival of a new life in an airport is the most important from any other arrival. We are lucky to have experienced such a moment this morning! The airport’s EKAV medical team with the little baby of #athensairport. May the baby live a healthy life!"
