The second Christmas tree that was placed in Exarchia Square in Athens on Friday after the previous one was torched, was destroyed in the same manner a few hours later.
It is believed anarchists destroyed both Christmas trees, the original torched on Wednesday a few hours after it was put up, in demonstration against squat evictions and the increased police presence in the area.
Athens Mayor, Kostas Bakoyannis announced the placement of the second tree on Facebook on Friday morning, stating "No one can burn Christmas."
