The Mitsotakis government is set to introduce a new law to Parliament concerning the future of protests and marches.

According to government sources, the aim of the draft law is to ensure that future protests and marches cause minimum inconvenience to the general public.

A new framework with restrictions and conditions regarding mobilisations, aim at avoiding the occupation of roads and sidewalks by small groups of demonstrators.

The new laws will require each demonstration to be planned, and its announcement to bear the organiser’s name and depending on its volume, it will be decided whether the demonstrators will march on the street or on the sidewalk, if they will march along an avenue or a lane, as well as which streets will be closed during mass demonstrations.
