The decade that ended a few days ago ended in the most impressive way for Athens Eleftherios Venizelos Airport. Passenger traffic reached a new record in 2019, at 25.57 million, up 6% from 2018 (24.13 million).
International passengers increased by 10.9%, while domestic passengers declined (-6.7%) due to reduced domestic services compared to the same period last year.
Overall, the number of flights during 2019 reached 225,628 (+ 3.9%), recording the airport's best historical performance in terms of number of flights.
In 2020, Athens Eleftherios Venizelos Airport will operate a new terminal, an expansion that will help it deal with passenger traffic which has risen significantly over the past few years.
