5.3 Magnitude Earthquake strikes off the Greek Island of Karpathos

A 5.3 magnitude earthquake shook the Eastern Dodecanese islands on Thursday afternoon, according to a preliminary reading from the Athens’ Geodynamic Institute.

The epicentre of the earthquake that struck after 1 p.m., was located in the sea some 57 km east of the Aegean island of Karpathos.

The quake was felt on the islands of Rhodes, Kasos and Karpathos.

No injuries or damages have been reported.
