Greek Australian "fashion designer to the stars" Alex Perry is closing his flagship store at the Strand Arcade in Sydney’s CBD and says he will now purely focus on online sales.

The former Australia’s Next Top Model judge will shut the doors to his boutique in March but will continue to stock his collection in more than 100 sites across the globe, he told news.com.au.

Perry said digital sales were much stronger than his store takings, stating that the “retail environment is changing”.

However, he did acknowledge, “There are some people who will always want a great shopping experience and will want to go into a store and try something on.”

The talented designer stressed that generational and behavioural changes have made online shopping more accessible.

“The message is if you are bricks and mortar, in Australia especially, that you offer an exceptional level of service and you have a variety of items available to people.

“We’re just in a different time and there are different ways that people choose to shop.”

Perry’s designs have been worn by celebrities and royals, including Crown Princess Mary, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner, Sandra Bullock, Giuliana Rancic, Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio, Elle Macpherson, Natalie Portman, P!nk, Eva Longoria, Kate Upton, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Rihanna,and Priyanka Chopra.
