After the announcement of the first coronavirus case in Greece, authorities on Wednesday tried to identify and locate everyone who came into contact with the infected 38-year-old woman over the past two days.
“The woman who tested positive for the coronavirus is being kept in a negative pressure room at the AHEPA hospital and now we are tracing the people this particular woman came into contact with,” Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias said.
The 38-year-old, who has not been publicly named, is the first patient in Greece to test positive for the novel coronavirus, in the northern port city of Thessaloniki. According to sources, she is a well-known designer who had travelled to northern Italy to attend Milan’s fashion week.
She returned to Thessaloniki on a full Ryanair flight on Sunday. Efforts are being made to track down the crew and passengers who were on that flight.
At the time this article was published, 15 people including her family members, have been quarantined for two weeks.
