MELBOURNE FESTIVAL

Melbourne’s largest Greek event organised by the Greek Community of Melbourne is back again, as the Antipodes Festival takes place this weekend on Saturday the 29th of February and Sunday the 1st of March, with plenty of Greek food, music, dance, and fun for all the family!

Formerly known as Lonsdale St Greek Festival, Melbourne's largest Greek cultural celebration is back with a new name, new look, and some new flavours.

With over 90 stalls, three free entertainment stages and roving performers, children's rides and activities, as well as multiple bars and an array of mouth-watering Greek culinary delights, there will be something for the entire family to enjoy!

The free festival will feature some of Melbourne's most talented performers, musicians, dancers, chefs, cooks, and competitors for a weekend of Greek-flavoured fun.

Over 50 groups of local and interstate dancers and musicians will perform a range of traditional and modern pieces and Greek singer Giota Negka will be making her Australian debut.

Food lovers are in for a treat - In addition to Lonsdale St Greek icons Stalactites, Tsindos and International Cakes, there will also be over 20 food stalls and trucks cooking up a storm.

The kid-friendly festival has plenty of activities in which kids can enjoy, including face painting, balloon sculpting, storytelling and there will also be rides.

Other activities include live cooking demonstrations by renowned chefs as well as carnival rides. Some of the fun competitions include the dance competition dubbed ‘Zorba ‘Till You Drop’ and the ‘Magic Mic’ a singing contest open to amateurs of all ages.  There is also the ‘Loukoumadomania’ to see who can eat the most Greek honey puffs in one minute! There will be over 60 food and drink stalls where you can purchase some delicious treats including Greek street food, desserts, coffees and so much more!
