Turkish fighter jets enter Greek airspace over Evros

The Greek National Defence General Staff reported that two Turkish fighter jets entered the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR) without submitting flight plans, and flew above Greek territory in Northern Evros at 10,000 to 500 feet at 14:40 EET (2:40pm) on Wednesday.

At 15:27 EET (3:27pm), another pair of Turkish fighter jets also entered the Athens FIR without submitting flight plans and flew over the islets of Kalogeri, NE of Andros, at 26,000 feet, the Greek National Defence General Staff said.

Meanwhile on the ground at the Greek-Turkish border, slashes between illegal migrants and Greek authorities resumed on Wednesday evening.

According to sources, individuals standing at the Turkish side threw petrol bombs, stones and lit pieces of wood against Greek police, while attempts were also made to damage the wire fence there. 

All attempts to enter Greek territory illegally were repelled.
