Austrian special Operations Tactical Unit – EKO Cobra who have been patrolling the Greek Evros border for the past few days, told Turkish police officers on the other side of the fence "Here is our country and we defend the European borders."
According to reports, some of the thirteen elite officers of the tactical unit were asked by Turkish officers standing across from them: "What are you doing? This it is not your country."
The Austrian special police commandos responded back: “Here is our country and we defend the European borders.“
The dialogue occurred just hours before hundreds of illegal immigrants with the support of Turkish authorities who fired gas against Greek border guards, attempted to break through defences at the Kastanies crossing.
Named one of the best Special Forces units in the World, Austrian EKO Cobra are providing assistance to the Greek forces, preventing illegal migrants entering into Greek territory.
