Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson are “not great” but “feeling better every day,” following their coronavirus diagnosis, according to Hanks’ sister.

Talking to People, Sandra Hanks Benoiton said: “Tom and Rita are doing very well and continue to recover. Their recovery is very much on course for healthy adults with this virus. They are feeling better each day.”

Sandra lives in Italy which has been badly affected by the virus with over 4,000 dead in the country as a result. She is currently on lockdown.

Tom and Rita’s coronavirus diagnosis shook the world last week, as the Oscar-winning actor broke the news via an Instagram post.

According to Hanks, him and his wife started to exhibit some minor flu-like symptoms when they decided to get tested for the coronavirus. They both ended up testing positive and were taken to a local hospital to receive treatment.

Since their diagnosis, the pair have been discharged from hospital and are now self-isolating in a rental house in Australia.

Yesterday, Australian director Baz Luhrmann called off the Queensland production of a movie about music icon Elvis Presley starring Hollywood legend Tom Hanks.

Luhrmann has reassured it will resume “as soon as the time is right.”
