Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has launched new blackmailing threats against the European Union, after illegal immigrants were evacuated from the Kastanies/Pazarkule border gate on Thursday night.

The statements were made yesterday in an interview with the Turkish NTV television channel, where the Turkish Minister stated that the evacuation operation took place overnight and 5,800 refugees and migrants were transferred to 9 Turkish provinces where they will remain in readmission centers.

“It was a precautionary move. We had to do it. However, no one should feel comfortable with it yet,” Süleyman Soylu threatened indirectly. "When the coronavirus pandemic is over, we are not going to deter any migrants who want to return to the Greek-Turkish border in Pazarkule," he added.

Reportedly, Turkey's sudden move to evacuate the Kastanies/Pazarkule border gate area is believed to have been triggered by fears of the spread of the coronavirus. Sources report that two cases of coronavirus had been been identified among the illegal immigrants.
