Three more monks of Xenophontos Monastery on Mount Athos, have tested positive for coronavirus.

"They are being treated at the Hippocrates Hospital of Thessaloniki and will be transferred immediately to AHEPA," Konstantinos Doukouslis, the director of Mount Athos (Karyes) health centre said.

The ages of the three monks range from 40 to 55 years old, and it is recalled that they had recently travelled to the UK with another monk who is already being treated at AHEPA.

At the invitation of His Eminence Nikitas, Archbishop of Thyateira and Great Britain, the monks transported a fragment of the sacred relic of St. George from the Xenophontos Monastery.

Upon return, the monks had been quarantined and did not come into contact with anyone.

A special disinfection was ordered at the Xenophontos Monastery upon the order of the Deputy Commander of Mount Athos, Aristos Kasmiroglou.
