The funeral of Manolis Glezos, Greek left-wing politician best known for his participation in the World War II resistance, was held on Wednesday with only immediate family in attendance.
Glezos passed away on Monday aged 97.
His funeral was attended only by few people as a precaution against the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece conducted the service, as the great warrior had requested prior to his death.
"Manolis Glezos has been the symbol of the National Resistance in times of disaster for our country," said Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece.
At the same time, following the Prime Minister's decision, the Greek flag on the Acropolis flew at half mast in honour of the World War II resistance hero.
