Greece mobilises 500 testing units and 2000 new health professionals

Share

Greece’s Health Ministry announced on Tuesday that some 500 mobile medical units will begin to carry out diagnostic tests for Covid-19 as of Wednesday.

According to the announcement the mobile medical units will obtain samples and offer nursing assistance to home-bound who are likely to or confirmed as having contracted the virus.

Apart from the leasing of the 500 specialised vehicles, the ministerial decision includes the training of 2,000 new health professionals hired recently for hospitals, health centres and the Emergency Ambulance Service (EKAV), as well as the hiring of another 1,000 people to staff the mobile medical units program.

Another 100 administrators will also be trained to manage the National Public Health Organization’s (EODY) call centre, and to better coordinate the mobile health units in the field.
