Four Greeks have made this year's Forbes World's Billionaires list.
Ranked #808, Philip Niarchos, the oldest son of the late shipping magnate Stavros Niarchos, inherited much of his father's wealth that also includes an art collection. He is worth $2.8 billion.
Greek-Russian businessman, Ivan Savvidis worth $1.6 billion is ranked #1436. He is the founder of Agrokom Group, whose assets include Russian tobacco firm Donskoy Tabak and the owner of the soccer club PAOK FC in Thessaloniki.
Vardis Vardinogiannis, Greek oil and shipping tycoon, is ranked #1744 on the list, with a total fortune of $1.3 billion.He is the chairman and controlling shareholder of Motor Oil Hellas, Vegas Oil and Gas and involved in numerous other shipping and business interests.
Not far behind, worth $1.2 billion, Aristotelis 'Telis' Mistakidis, a Greek metals trader who became a billionaire working for Glencore, is ranked #1846. He first became a billionaire in 2011 when Glencore went public, and currently owns more than 3% of the company's stock.
It must be noted that Vardinogiannis is the only Greek billionaire that actually lives in Greece.
Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos remains the richest man in the world for the third consecutive year, despite the expensive divorce from his former wife MacKenzie Bezos that cost nearly $40 billion.
Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates is in second place, followed by Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of luxury magnate LVMH, who climbed to third place for the first time.
The world's richest woman continues to be Walmart heir Alice Walton. She's in ninth place with $54.4 billion.
