The Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH) announced that it will donate €1m to help Greece’s battle against coronavirus.
HCH President Alexandros Vassilikos said: “Greek hoteliers have proven that they always know how to support during difficult times. So even now, during this unprecedented global situation, we are joining the effort for the common good.”
Despite the huge blow to Greece’s businesses, Vassilikos stated that the decision to donate one million euros to the public health system was the obvious decision for the hoteliers to do.
“It is a small expression of our appreciation to the country’s medical staff that gives its own daily battles to save lives, give hope and give the chance for our country’s economy to open again,” he continued.
This announcement follows the chamber’s establishment of “Hotels For”, a new hospitality sector social responsibility initiative that will see to support those in need and promote sustainable development in accordance with the goals set out by the UN.
