Pakistani man is accused of molesting a minor on idyllic Greek island

A strange case has unfolded on the small Dodecanese island of Karpathos, home to just a little more than 6,000 people. A man of Pakistani origin will face charges of allegedly molesting a minor child and will be taken to the investigator on Rhodes, according to Sky Rodos.

More specifically, the minor - who is only 11-years-old and allegedly had very close ties with the 25-year-old Pakistani, had been dragged into his house. Her older sister who had followed her and witnessed the incident, immediately informed their mother.

The mother reported the Pakistani man to the police for molesting a minor, according to what the lawyer of the accused foreign man, Poly Hatzigiannis, stated on Sky Rodos.

As she said, this is a complicated story, with repeated meetings over a 10-day period.

"This serious case has been brought to justice, which will be decided in the future. From the deposits and the data, this is not just a meeting, but a recurring one for ten days," said the lawyer of the accused Pakistani.

It is noted that a translator has also been called, in order to carry out the entire pre-investigation process, since the arrested person does not speak Greek.

Although the small island of Karpathos is further way from the Turkish coastline and lays between Rhodes and Crete, it has still been an island that illegal immigrants sail to. In one incident on June 2017, 119 illegal immigrants arrived by wooden boat to the idyllic island.

In January of this year, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake shook the Eastern Dodecanese islands, as reported by Greek City Times. The epicentre of the earthquake that struck after 1 p.m., was located in the sea some 57 km east of the Aegean island of Karpathos, and the quake was felt on the islands of Rhodes, Kasos and Karpathos.

However, this little incident involved the minor and the accused Pakistani has shaken Karpathos more than the quake.
