An eight-month-old baby who tested positive for coronavirus, is being cared for in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Agia Sofia Children's Hospital.

The Agia Sofia Children's Hospital is the largest children's hospital in Greece and one of the largest children's hospitals in Europe.

According to sources, the baby boy was admitted to the hospital with an underlying health condition and before being admitted to ICU, was tested for coronavirus, which came back positive.

The little boy has been in the ICU for two days and has been visited by Greece's Health Ministry spokesperson and infectious diseases expert, Professor Sotiris Tsiodras, who was given an update on his condition by his doctors.

Meanwhile, thirty workers in Greece's ambulance service (EKAV) were quarantined on Wednesday after two of their colleagues tested positive for Covid-19. This is the third infection in EKAV after another worker was found positive on March 16.

It is noted that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Greece currently stands at 2,850. The number of fatalities since the start of the pandemic is 166.
