Primary schools, preschools and day care facilities will open again on June 1, government spokesman Stelios Petsas announced on Sunday evening.
The decision was made by the Prime Minister following recommendations by the country’s health experts.
“At the moment, the data shows that we are going to open primary schools. It is good for our children. They cannot stay out of school for six month,” Petsas said.
The school year will also be extended to late June.
According to sources, students will attend classes in rotation, the same scheme applied for Lyceums.
More information will be provided by Education Minister Niki Kerameus and Interior Minister Takis Theodorikakos on Monday.
Early March, schools and all educational institutions were closed to curb the spread of COVID-19.
