Following last week's announcement, primary schools, preschools and day care facilities are ready to reopen with extra caution on June 1.

Precautions and safety measures have been issued for all levels of schools, calling for 50% capacity in classrooms, distances of 1.5 m between desks and no more than 15 students per classroom.

The school year will also be extended to late June.

"Our schools are ready to welcome primary school students and toddlers safely. With disinfection, with the necessary cleaning staff and with sanitary material in each room. Good start guys!" Athens mayor Kostas Bakogiannis posted on Instagram.
