CYPRUS

Want to visit Cyprus this summer? This is how!

Picture perfect beaches, ancient ruins and mouth watering foods like sheftalies, halloumi and flaounes - who doesn't want to spend a summer in Cyprus?

Greece has a relatively straight forward process. If you belong to one of the 29 countries listed by Greece, you can enter without needing to do a coronavirus test on arrival and a compulsory 7 to 14 day quarantine.

Cyprus, although very simple, has an extra few steps involved.

A new short video by Harry Theocharous explains exactly how one can enjoy the beaches and food of Cyprus.

As explained in the video, to visit Cyprus, one just has to make an account on cyprusflightpass.gov.cy and register their travel plans three days before arrival. As simple as that.

Unfortunately however, there are only a select few countries who for now can go to Cyprus. The list however will be reviewed weekly.

These countries are Malta, Greece, Bulgaria, Norway, Austria, Finland, Slovakia, Hungary, Israel, Denmark, Germany, Slovenia, Lithuania, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Croatia and Estonia.

On Tuesday, an Israeli airliner was the first commercial flight to land in Cyprus after the reopening of its airports following an 11-week ban to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The Republic of Cyprus has a total of 970 coronavirus cases and 18 deaths, with over 12% of the population tested.

Transport Minister Yiannis Karousos said “This is what Cyprus will sell this year, is the excellent results we have with regards to the coronavirus. Cyprus would be a safe place to be.”

Karousos said it’s projected that Cyprus will see about 35% of the nearly 4 million passenger arrivals it had for all of last year. The country also expects to receive about 600,000 passengers in August.

To attract tourists, Cyprus has pledged to cover the medical costs of anyone who contracts coronavirus while holidaying on the Mediterranean island.
