"Athens is Back", is an initiative of the Municipality of Athens in collaboration with the Trade Association of Athens, which aims to support businesses operating in Athens.

The initiative was announced following the meeting between the Mayor of Athens Kostas Bakogiannis, with the President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce Stavros Kafounis, and the members of the Board of Directors.

From Tuesday, June 16, all companies and cultural organisations operating in the seven Municipal Communities of Athens are invited to display their current offers and discounts through the platform www.athensisback.gr thus giving residents and visitors an additional incentive to go out, do their shopping and have fun in the city, always adhering to safety measurses.

Stavros Kafounis referred to the close cooperation of the two bodies so far and stated that: "The recent crisis has left deep wounds on the capital market and limited tourist flows create uncertainty for the next day, in the business community of the city."

The action, implemented by the Development and Tourism Promotion Company of the Municipality of Athens, will remain active for three months and will be end on September 16, 2020.

The Mayor of Athens stressed that: "This whole period has given us the opportunity to create a large digital toolbox. We have made great strides towards modernising and digitising our services. We continue to work in this direction, not only for the relationship of the Municipality with the citizens but also for the promotion of our local market, for the strengthening of the local economy and its upgrading. We support with actions - and using technology - every business, every professional... And we do it together with the city's Chamber of Commerce. Because we can create and achieve things when we all work together."
