Award-winning online beach booking platform Plazz, has updated its services in the drive to safeguard public health by helping avert overcrowding at organised beach facilities, as reported by Tech Press.

Plazz connects users with beautiful beach resorts and allows them to directly reserve their beach bed from their phone.

Created by Manos Paterakis and Lefteris Farmakas in 2015, Plazz was the first application of its kind in Greece. It has a network of 3,500 beach loungers across Greece and over 50,000 users.

The updated platform allows staff to monitor bookings for loungers in real time, in order to easily organise visitors and give staff time to disinfect the areas and equipment used by previous guests.

"Both visitors and tourism businesses," according to the founders of the Plazz platform, "need to feel safe, and we are here to create all the conditions we need to provide them with a security environment that they so desperately need," they emphasised in the announcement.

The application is also available for swimming pool facilities.

It is also noted that "with a high sense of responsibility towards the users of the platform and the companies cooperating with it, in combination with the social distancing restrictions", they implemented an update restricting mass attendance at selected times to avoid overcrowding.
