New second lieutenants of the Greek Army sworn in

On Friday, the graduation and swearing-in ceremony of the new second lieutenants took place at the Hellenic Army Academy in Vari, a southeastern suburb of Athens.

The swords to the new second lieutenants of the Greek Army, of Class 2020, which bears the name "Lieutenant General Konstantinos Davakis", were presented by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of National Defence Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, Deputy Minister of Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis, Chief of General Staff General Konstantinos Floros, as well as parliamentarians, representatives of the parties, the Church and relatives and friends of the new lieutenants.

"Today, the swords were awarded to the graduates of the Military Academy. I am confident that the new officers, as well as all the Armed Forces, are fully aware of their mission and the ability to carry it out, no matter how difficult the circumstances," Greece's first female president posted on twitter.

A total of 231 Second Lieutenants were sworn in, 191 from Greece (166 men, and 25 women), 36 from Cyprus, 3 from Armenia and 1 from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
