Newly renovated cardiology unit at Agia Sofia Children's Hospital

On Wednesday, the completely renovated and modernised cardiology unit of the Agia Sofia Children's Hospital, was revealed, Protothema reported.

OPAP, a Greek company organising and conducting games of chance, is committed to renovating the two largest paediatric hospitals- Agia Sofia and Panagiotis & Aglaia Kyriakou.

The cardiology unit has a capacity of 20 beds and a total area of ​​570 square meters.

Acting CEO of OPAP, Jan Karas, stated: “At OPAP, we are very proud of our ambitious initiative for the complete renovation of the two largest paediatric hospitals in Greece. This project is at the heart of our commitment to social contribution and is a big part of our corporate responsibility strategy. To date, we have completed the renovation of both hospitals by 82%. In total, we have delivered 26 renovation projects, which support hundreds of thousands of children, their parents and hospital staff. Our work does not stop here, of course, as we continue and remain committed to the complete renovation of the two hospitals."

The Deputy CEO of OPAP, Odysseas Christoforou, stressed: "For the sixth consecutive year, OPAP continues the renovation program of the paediatric hospitals Agia Sofia and Panagiotis & Aglaia Kyriakou. Today, we deliver a completely renovated very important Cardiology Unit of the Agia Sofia Children's Hospital. Despite the difficult conditions created by the pandemic, our work continued normally, actively supporting the sensitive sector of Health and especially the new generation of our country. With the same zeal, we continue this great social work."

The renovation of the cardiology unit of the Agia Sofia Children's Hospital includes the complete modernisation of the electromechanical installations and the air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems, as well as the supply of the necessary equipment. Extensive colour and decorative interventions were also added, which have created a pleasant health environment for young patients.

On his part, Mr. Emmanouil Papasavvas, the Joint Commander of the Interconnected Hospitals, underlined: “Paediatric hospitals have entered a new orbit of modernising and upgrading their services, thanks to the great offer of OPAP. This is an ambitious project, which started in 2014 and continues at the same pace, even today despite the difficult conditions due to the pandemic. I would like to thank OPAP for this initiative, thanks to which we are pleased to enjoy a modern and child-friendly paediatric hospital in our country."
